The transport system is of great importance for the Namibian economy. It is the foundation for development in the country, giving the population access to their workplaces, markets, and social and health care facilities.
In order to expand the transport sector further, the country needs qualified specialists in the ministries and subordinated authorities as well as in businesses and the academic and re-search community.
The Fourth National Development Plan defines Namibia’s trans-formation into a regional logistics hub for the Southern African Development Community (SADC) as a key priority. However, the legal and organisational requirements for implementation are not yet in place.
