Under the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI), GIZ works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to implement the DKTI Energy-Efficient Propulsion Systems project in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry for Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC). The project aims to improve the general conditions for electromobility.
Brazil is committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 43 per cent (compared to 2005 levels) by 2030. Furthermore, Brazil aims to improve its energy efficiency; electromobility can have positive effect on this development.
Having in mind that the transport sector accounts for more than half of fossil fuel consumption and for 46 per cent of greenhouse gas emissions from Brazil’s energy sector and the slow uptake of electric and hybrid vehicles, the DKTI is posi-tioned to change the market and contribute to Brazil’s aims.
