"We have to provide mobility for all within the boundaries of our planet. But I'm sure that, with the right partners and a clear focus on transformative approaches, it can be done!" In the light of these initial words of Dr. Ingolf Dietrich, Director at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) the TUMIVolt Conference kicked-off in Leipzig on May 21, 2019.
No less than a revolution in future mobility was up for debate between 180 international and well-known traffic experts and decision-makers to jointly shape the future of e-mobility and intensify the networking of actors from the fields of mobility and energy.
At the heart of the event were short lectures, so-called pitches, in which speakers from the public sector, the private sector and financial institutions presented their ideas and strategies as well as their perspectives on an "electrical transformation" of the transport sector. In addition to the short input lectures, the subsequent discussions ensured a deeper exchange.
There was widespread consensus on the need for increased cooperation between these sectors to develop sustainable e-mobility concepts. At the end, a marketplace offered the participants the opportunity to get to know a variety of innovative concepts around the topic of e-mobility and to network.
In addition, the winners of the Global Urban Mobility Challenge 2019 were announced at the conference. A total of 10 cities will be financially and technically supported by TUMI in the implementation of pilot projects to promote sustainable mobility.
With the TUMI, the BMZ is making a contribution to shaping the international traffic trend.
