The absence of a cycling culture and therefore infrastructure in the city of Addis Abeba doesn't allow bike riding as a viable means of transport. LRT & Bus services are available but first- and last mile connectivity is done by walking or paratransit; which not only takes more time but is inefficient.
An integrated approach for safe cycling with the City in the lead. TUMI is supporting a ToT program, training grounds, bikes and designing support for the city wide roll-out of cycling. Teamed up with ITDP, NACTO and WRI, the City's Road Bureau is pushing for a holistic and coordinated action.
